Here are some things to remember this Canada Day:
- Watch out for dehydration. Seniors should increase their water intake and avoid drinking coffee and alcohol.
- Having a picnic or eating out at the Canada 150 festivities? Pack with seniors in mind. Bring water and light, small meals.
- Watch out for the hottest parts of the day, generally between 12:00pm and 4:00pm. Remember senior sun safety. Seniors outside in the sun should apply sunscreen and wear light coloured clothing.
- If you’re visiting a senior living alone, watch for heat exhaustion. Look for signs of excessive sweating, weakness, muscle cramps, headache, and nausea.
