What do we know?
Early information confirms that some people are at higher risk of getting very sick from this illness. This includes older adults and people who have serious chronic medical conditions like heart disease, diabetes and lung disease.
Those who are infected with COVID-19 may have little to no symptoms. You may not know you have symptoms of COVID-19 because they are similar to a cold or flu.
If a Coronavirus outbreak does happen in your community, it could last for a long time. Because of many clients’ age and/or their health situations, it is extra important for you to take actions to reduce your risk of getting sick with the disease.
Please visit Health Canada's website on COVID-19 for more information including:
Staying Current: We review guidelines from Health Canada daily and provide owners and staff with updates as they become available
Prevention: We have directed all caregivers and staff follow enhanced prevention procedures.
Routine environmental cleaning: All staff and caregivers have been instructed to clean frequently touched surfaces daily and commonly used surfaces before each use. This includes areas such as workstations, countertops and doorknobs.
We are minimizing employee risk: Any employees who appears to be sick will be sent home immediately. We require that employees who have a sick family member at home be tested.
