We recognize the growing need for in-home care services, and with our passion for helping others, we are committed to delivering the best possible care to seniors in the Surrey community.

We have built an exceptional team of care professionals, each committed to remaining at the forefront of the in-home care industry through our proprietary ongoing training and education programs. Our History

Senior Helpers was founded in 2002 by Tony Bonacuse with the help of Peter Ross after their firsthand experience in caring for their respective family members. Tony and Peter identified a need that was not being filled properly by the other companies. They realized that most seniors would prefer to age in their own home rather than move into an unfamiliar institution. Unfortunately, the options available to most seniors were very limited. Most seniors did not have access to well-trained, dependable and accessible in-home care. This was the mission-driven spark that started Senior Helpers.

The first office opened in Baltimore, Maryland, and quickly developed a reputation for delivering excellent in-home senior care with their well-trained staff of professional caregivers. Based on the success of the Baltimore location, the company began to expand. Over the past 13 years, the Senior Helpers family has grown to include a network of more than 300 locally owned and operated franchises across the United States.

Senior Helpers of Surrey North was proud to join the system in 2026. Like every other owner, we too are fully-committed to the original goal of providing dependable and accessible in-home care with well-trained caregivers. Nothing is more important to us than being the best available resource for seniors and families in our community. We are lucky to serve hundreds of seniors in our community, and we are committed to continuing to provide uncompromising levels of care to all our families.

Meet the Surrey North Team

Dr. Racheal Laren Ong

Owner

Dr. Racheal Laren Ong is a dedicated healthcare professional and accomplished entrepreneur with a strong and diverse background in both medicine and business. She is the President and Managing Director of Senior Helpers Surrey North.

She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Far Eastern University and completed her MBA at Miriam College. She further advanced her expertise by specializing in Occupational Medicine, Aesthetic Dermatology, and Primary Skin Care.

In addition to her clinical career, Dr. Racheal successfully managed her own medical clinic while founding and operating Achybells Flowers, a gift and flower delivery company in the Philippines. Her entrepreneurial drive and commitment to excellence have been defining elements of her professional journey.

Dr. Racheal is also a Registered Nurse in the state of New York and Canada, broadening her clinical experience on an international scale. She previously worked at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton in the Internal Medicine Unit, where she provided compassionate care to seniors and patients living with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and Parkinson’s disease.

With a solid foundation in clinical practice and business, Dr. Racheal remains passionate about delivering patient-centered care while continuing to explore new opportunities in healthcare and entrepreneurship.

Arnel Pepito

Owner

Arnel Pepito is a dynamic entrepreneur and versatile professional with a diverse background spanning sales, banking, and equity markets. He previously served as a Portfolio Manager and Stockbroker at Eastern Securities Development Corporation, one of the leading brokerage firms at the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), where he managed substantial client portfolios and facilitated equity transactions.

Demonstrating a strong entrepreneurial spirit, Arnel co-founded Kapayaman.Ph (formerly Stocks-Ed), one of the fastest-growing business networking and mentoring communities in the Philippines, focused on financial literacy and professional development. He also co-founded Achybells Flowers, where he played an active role in driving the brand’s growth and overseeing daily operations.

Arnel completed a postgraduate program in Global Business Management at Mohawk College. He later worked in the college’s Finance Department, further strengthening his business operations and financial expertise.

Motivated by a deep commitment to senior care, Arnel earned his Personal Support Worker/Healthcare Aide Certificate from the Hamilton Institute for Health Personnel (HIHP). He also completed his clinical placement at Ridgeview Long-Term Care Centre and has previously worked as a PSW, providing compassionate support to seniors living with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and Parkinson’s disease.
