"We recently hired Senior Helpers to come in a couple of times a week to support my mother, who has dementia and Alzheimer’s, and her partner who has his own health issues and is struggling to keep up the household. Janelle Thornton and her husband are the owners of this small company and their focus is on compassionate care, paced to suit the clients’ preferences and needs and with absolute respect for them. She is seriously such a lovely and positive person, and my mom told their worker Rosanna that she’s one of her favourite people after only a few weeks of their visits. They will adapt their approach to the comfort level and specific needs of each client. Seniors in situations like my folks are in that precarious place between still having autonomy and independence and needing support to sustain their household and organizational needs. It can be a very difficult adjustment to have to allow people to come into their home multiple times each week. Janelle and her staff are gentle but energetic; highly efficient and hardworking, yet compassionate to the individuals they are servicing. My mom and stepdad absolutely love them. I cannot recommend this company enough. They are literally an answer to my prayers. I was losing sleep at night worrying about how to support my family members before we brought Senior Helpers in.
