Parkinson's Care

Senior Helpers is proud to be the exclusive in-home care sponsor of online caregiver resources for The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. The Michael J. Fox Foundation is the largest non-profit funder of Parkinson’s disease research in the world and is dedicated to providing educational resources, including those that help families and organizations learn how to care for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease. Senior Helpers’ independently owned franchised businesses hire and train caregivers across the country to help in the homes of seniors who live with a variety of conditions, including Parkinson’s disease.

Senior Helpers’ expertise in providing care for those who live with Parkinson’s disease comes from in-depth training on how to care for seniors with a variety of age-related ailments. Parkinson’s disease is a unique challenge for caregivers, which is why Senior Helpers has invested so extensively to train its caregivers with the best information and tools available to make sure all Senior Helpers clients who live with Parkinson’s can live in comfort and as independently as possible given their condition. This is a powerful reason why the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research elected to partner with Senior Helpers.

The Michael J. Fox Foundation uses Senior Helpers’ sponsorship to enhance its existing caregiver resources web page and related content that is shared on its blog and social media channels. The resources web page helps families and organizations understand how Parkinson’s disease affects families and relationships, and it provides content to help these individuals understand the course of action that may be best for them. Included in these resources are a “Caregiver Guide,” which includes educational content and recommendations for caregivers, and an “Ask the MD” short video that shares quick tips from a medical professional for caregivers who help individuals living with Parkinson’s disease. The enhanced caregiver resources will be located on michaeljfox.org in the “Understanding Parkinson’s” section of the website.
