Home Care Funding & Payment Options

As a leading provider of in-home senior care services, we are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for seniors while enabling them to age gracefully and independently in the comfort of their own homes for as long as possible. Choosing in-home care for your loved one comes with a number of considerations, including affordability and payment options. We understand that most people do not have unlimited funds to pay for care. There are several options available to help pay for long-term home care and lighten your family's financial burden. At all times, we prioritize honesty and a straightforward approach to give you the information you need to make a decision. Listed below are some creative options to help your loved one remain in their own home.

Extended Healthcare Benefits

Extended healthcare benefits can help to cover the cost of senior care at home or in a nursing facility. It helps protect your loved one's assets and can cover much of the cost of home care, depending on the policy terms. Senior Helpers can help to review your loved one's policy to determine if services are covered.

Reverse Mortgage

If your loved one has equity in their home, they can probably qualify for a reverse mortgage. A reverse mortgage is a loan against your home that you do not have to pay back for as long as you live there. With a reverse mortgage, you can turn the value of your home into cash without having to move or to repay the loan each month. These funds can then be used to pay for home care. Evaluate this option with a reputable Reverse Mortgage Specialist.

Additional Provincial and Local Programs

In many provinces, there are local and provincial funded programs that offer limited care for seniors who meet certain criteria. Contact your closest Senior Helpers office for more information about funding opportunities that may be available. We can help you explore these options and whether you qualify.

Viatical Life Settlements

If your loved one has a life insurance policy, there are companies that offer insurance owners the option to sell their policies in exchange for a lump sum payment that is greater than the cash surrender value.

Private Pay

Your loved one may have savings or supplementary income available that can help pay for home care, assisted living, or nursing home care. Often, family members may contribute to the cost of care for their loved one.

Payment Options

Senior Helpers offers a choice of payment options for your convenience. We invoice for our services on a weekly basis and can send the invoice directly to the client, their family, a trusted advisor, or long-term care insurance company. Our invoices are detailed with the dates and times of service along with the caregiver who provided care on each day.

Most of our clients are "private pay," which means they submit payment directly to us each billing cycle. For your convenience, we accept payment by both cheques and credit cards (at most locations). We encourage you to contact your local Senior Helpers to learn more about payment options accepted and how we can assist your family's unique needs.

At Senior Helpers, we're committed to helping you find the resources you need to afford quality care for your loved ones. Please contact your closest Senior Helpers location today to get started.
